Individualised Counselling

Every individual is unique, therefore, mental health support needs to be adapted to each person’s needs, comforts, and wishes. Renaissance Wellbeing Services provides individualised counselling through conversation with the option of incorporating creative expressive therapy.

Appointments can be organised on a casual or short term basis to provide support through specific issues. Long term counselling for more complex or ongoing mental health support is also available.

Flexible hours are available:

Monday to Friday 10:00am – 8:00pm

Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm

Talk-based therapy

Talking through mental health issues in a safe, non-judgmental space can have many benefits. Generally, people benefit from an a mixed approach that incorporates a range of evidence-based frameworks. Eg. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Counselling with Creativity

Sometimes words cannot adequately express thoughts and feelings. Therefore, RWS offers the option of incorporating art therapy into counselling. Alternatively, creative directives can be done as an extension of the counselling process between sessions. Creative activities could include drawing, hand modelling, or working with any other media, according to individual comfort and needs.

Trauma-Informed

Trauma is not an event that happens to us, rather, it is the impact left in the body and mind following adverse experiences. Specific events like sexual abuse, war, domestic violence, natural disasters, and so forth can leave lasting effects on the nervous system which, if left unresolved, can interfere with day to day living and finding joy.

Similarly, “smaller” traumas like harassment, oppression, relational conflicts, institutional (religious- and work-based) abuse, and other ongoing stresses can place immense strain on mental health. Many incidents can seem insignificant in themselves, however, collectively impact wellbeing as much as bigger traumas. Counselling can help develop resilience and identify individualised strategies to help people work through their personal dilemmas.

Evidence-based practice

Renaissance Wellbeing Services offers online counselling by a professional mental health practitioner. Individualised support is accessible from the comfort of your home via internet conferencing (Zoom or Skype). Quality evidence-based approaches are available to help you manage life stresses that are causing depression, anxiety, and trauma symptoms.
